Achieving the rank of Black Belt exemplifies dedication and perseverance. The student dedicates their time to train and learn forms for each belt rank, a process that takes several years to complete.
Being a black belt also exemplifies commitment. The student knows it's too easy to give up. They understand that repetitively practicing the same movements and stretches thousands of times, over and over, will eventually condition their muscles and flexibility to perfect a technique. This requires great patience and a willingness on the part of the student to see it through to the end.
Lastly, being a black belt exemplifies passion. Goals are set and followed through with determination. The student works incredibly hard to fulfill their commitments. A dedicated black belt has a genuine love for the art of Taekwondo, and it's not just a monotonous routine.
The black belt represents more than just a color or a piece of fabric wrapped around their waist - it's a way of life. Self-control, discipline, humility, and indomitable spirit are the hallmarks of a true black belt.
