Ladies should highly consider enrolling in Women only self defense classes. Some women like to think that they will never be attacked, but there is always that chance they that might. In general it is usually best not to go to the ground if you are attacked. Unless you are highly trained in a ground fighting style like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, going to the ground in a fight will significantly reduce your chance of escaping. Women especially shouldn’t want the fight to go to the ground. Although there are women out there who are trained in realistic self defense systems they still don’t want to take the chance of letting the fight go to the ground. It is best to stay on the feet to escape or defend against an attack.
Martial arts schools in Maryland often give many examples or scenarios that women should and should not use self defense. A good example of when a woman may need to use self defense could be when they walk to their car late at night. The parking lot isn’t crowded and it appears as if the bystander is the only person walking to their car. Suddenly two assailants come from behind and demand money, the car keys, jewelry, etc. When someone is outnumbered, initially it is best to listen to what they say and assess the situation before proceeding with a course of action. Often the attackers will just take valuables and leave with out physically assaulting the bystander. Then the bystander can call the police to file a report and they can search for their stolen property. Unfortunately there are attackers who get what they demanded for and still terrorize the bystander. Defeating two opponents simultaneously is very difficult. So when someone is outnumbered they should always try to remain standing because mobility is imperative to effectively defend or escape. It’s very important not to expose your back. You must use the obstacles around you to limit the attackers’ movements. In Baltimore self defense classes will teach women how to strike back against the attacker by use strikes to areas like the throat, ears, nose, eyes, and the groin. Those attacks will stun the attacker to allow the bystander to deal with remaining one until the bystander was an opportunity to escape.

Often when people think about mixed martial arts (MMA) they think of it as a savage sport. It will look like two men or women in an octagonal cage slugging it back and forth until someone gets knockout or submitted. There will be blood everywhere covering the canvas. The referee will be hunched over watching the fighter beat somebody to a pulp. The crowd will cheer and roar so loud whenever there is carnage and mayhem, but are quick to show their disapproval whenever any action is not happening.
However around Maryland MMA and the people who are in the MMA world and have actually been a part of the sport know that it is so much more than a barbaric show. There are many skills required to be a successful MMA fighter and it takes a lot of time and a ton of dedication. The normal individual would have a hard time sacrificing the thing that they love so much in their daily routine. These fighters sacrifice their time, money, family, their body, and their friends. Those are hard things to give up in someone’s life. They all do this for a chance to be great at something that very few people want to be a part of. Often people will start training just because they love to fight but they quickly learn that it takes much more. A great thing about MMA is that it weeds out everyone who is not dedicated. MMA attracts people from all walks of life. There are even Bowie MMA classes for women that are rising in popularity.
People who partake in street fighting are motivated by a different means to their ends. Some of them fight because they really have nothing better to do with their time. Others may fight because they have deep emotional issues or suffer from depression. There are some street fighters who fight the homeless in front of a crowd for money. Now that is truly barbaric and more action needs to be taken to keep fight off the streets. Fighting on the streets contributes to the crime rate in America.
If you ask people who partake in Laurel MMA classes they will tell you that often street fighters come in to train but they get hit by reality. The fact is that no matter how many street fights they have been in, they are going to have a lot to learn and they will need to put in a lot of work to achieve their goals. The discipline to stay on such a strict training schedule is ridiculously hard. The discipline to turn down friends and family requests to go out on the town so they can train instead is also extremely difficult. The MMA fighters that are able to stay disciplined and sacrifice their short term wants and needs will be more likely to achieve there long term goals.

For a fighter to excel in muay thai they need a good muay thai partner to train with. As the saying goes “you are only as strong as your weakest link” so everybody involved in the muay thai class should be advancing together or work hard to get up to everyone else’s level. Dundalk Maryland kickboxing classes are adamant about raising the level of their student’s technique and skills. If your partner is not up to par your technique will suffer and you will take longer to develop. If the muay thai student continues to display bad technique they will develop bad habits that are harder to break down the road. A good partner will be able to help that student grow and minimize mistakes. Here are a few tips on how to be a good muay thai partner.
1. Ask for and give feedback. Your training partner may not know what they are doing right or wrong so its important to give them feedback. Knowing if they are a good or a bad partner will determine how much needs to be improved upon.
2. Be a good motivator. Muay thai can be very grueling and an exhausting workout so it is important to be a good motivator to help give a mental push through the pain. That’s why most Dundalk kickboxing classes promote unity in the classroom because they want the whole class to be good motivators to one another.
3. Pay attention. Another thing that is stressed in Dundalk kickboxing classes is to pay close attention. Not only should the training partner look and listen to what is being taught by the instructor they should also be able to comprehend and mimic what is being taught. If your partner is not paying attention when the instructor is going over a drill that you are about to do, you will need to waist valuable class time explaining it. It’s easy to spot who is not paying attention when they hold the muay thai pads in the wrong spot or move the pads in the wrong sequence which can put them in danger of getting accidentally hit.
Those are just a few tips on how to be a good muay thai training partner. If the training partner is good their support will definitely be reciprocated by their partner. Training partners should always strive to be better and never settle for being okay.

The popularity of UFC has caused an emergence of more people being interest in martial art fighting system called Muay Thai. People are also starting to see the that Muay Thai is a great work out and perfect for getting into shape.Muay Thai for fitness is so popular because it is challenging and requires so much from the person who is trying it. Muay Thai requires the person to be patient with learning the moves. However the benefits to that patience will vastly improve their balance, coordination, and timing on all the moves that they execute.
The Columbia Maryland Muay Thai classes will get their students to a level of the professional fighters. After the warm-up and shadowboxing the students will learn a combination to drill with their partners or on the heavy bags. The students will perform the drills at a high-intensity for a set time limit designated by the instructor. Then the classes usually move on to a conditioning period and then wrap up with a session of cooling down.

Mixed Martial Arts like the ones that are done in UFC (ultimate fighting championship) are continuing to receive negative criticism because of the violent content. The critics refer to it as a freak show, human cock-fighting and much more. It is still getting a bad reputation even though the sport has advanced a long way from when UFC first started in 1993.
Back in 1993 that sport was definitely barbaric. UFC was bare-knuckle no holds barred fighting back then. The fights weren’t sanctioned by the Athletic Commission back then so there weren’t many restriction, rules, and regulations. Back then it was single elimination tournament format. There were no weight classes so David and Goliath type of matches were common. The fights were also not even timed so you would fight until someone either gave up or was unconscious. With all the changes from then till now the UFC is considerably safer, more structured and far from its barbaric roots. MMA was sanctioned by an athletic commission in 2000. They have to wear gloves to protect their hands. The UFC is divided into weight classes so there are no real bully matches. Much like a boxing match, there are timed rounds and you can win decisions based off of points scored. Also the referees are more educated on knowing when to stop the fights and aren’t letting fighter get beat down to bloody pulp when it is clear that they can’t defend themselves.
In Glen Burnie MMA is becoming very popular amongst women. This may be the best reason to prove that MMA shouldn’t be considered barbaric anymore, because of the popularity of MMA classes for women. Women are showing interest in learning about Mixed Martial Arts for a number of reasons. Two of the biggest reasons are physical fitness and self defense. In many mixed martial arts class in Glen Burnie Self Defense is a point of Emphasis. In these classes they are likely to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsy and Muay Thai, which are absolutely the most effective martial arts for self defense. MMA classes for women also promote the total body workout that they are looking for. It is great for loosing weight getting in shape. Of course it is also for serious women who want to actually compete professionally. As a rule of thumb, when a women likes something it isn’t considered to be that bad.

Many Ellicott City Kickboxing classes and Ellicott City Muay Thai classes know that effective power can’t be accomplished without proper technique and form. Kickboxing is a sport that precision wins out more than wild abandon. True success in Kickboxing starts with the basics. The basics are the foundation that is used to build upon the rest of the skills that will be learned. If someone’s foundation is build on sloppy form and incorrect technique it becomes harder to begin building the intermediate let alone the advanced level skill set. Even professional fighters whose style looks like they have no formal training all have the basics as their foundation. The basic is like the roots of a tree. The fighter grows and branches out to try a new style or technique that works for them. If that style doesn’t work out for them then they always have the basics to fall back on.
So what are the basics? To most Columbia Kickboxing classes the basics are footwork, handwork, head movement, hip rotation, and timing. The basic are often neglected because people feel that they are too simple or boring. Also a fighter should be careful not to focus thier training in only one area of the basics. This could lead to the fighter forgetting to, or just not wanting to spend much time on the other area. All areas of the basics need to be solid before you can start building your other techniques. Fighters can’t have good head movement without good timing to match. They wouldn’t be able to counter attack an opponent as well either if footwork and handwork aren’t at the same skill level. Sometimes we need to take a step back in order to take a few steps forward.

A lot of Columbia Maryland martial arts require the practitioner to take advantage of opportunities given by their opponent to win the match. Unfortunately people hesitate when opportunity is presented to them. The ability to strike without hesitation can be the deciding factor as to whether a fighter has a good or bad career.
In Columbia mixed martial arts schools like to use the term “Striking while the iron is hot”. To “Strike while the iron is hot” is to quickly strike after the opportunity presents itself and before the opportunity is no longer there. Opportunities will always be there when you are ready for them. Time doesn’t seem like something that can be manipulated and controlled but in this circumstance it can be. How does one manipulate time in the martial arts world? Although it can be done it’s not going to easy it’s going to take a lot of work.
It does not matter if you train at a Dundalk Muay Thai kickboxing school or an Ellicott City MMA school, the work involved in manipulating time usually consists of drills and sparring to develop a quick eye to see the opportunity present itself. Of course training hard and being in good shape will make you faster but drilling and sparring is equally as important. Drilling will develop your muscle memory so you react without thinking & sparring will give you real time practice and the eye for detail required to have a fest reaction time. Reaction time is the interval of time between application of a stimulus and detection of a response. Learning how subtle motions of your opponent moves his shoulders can give away your opponents moves will also help to increase your reaction time. Every punch starts from the shoulder so by noticing which shoulder moves first give you a greater chance to predict their movement and motion. As you develop these techniques and your reaction time gets faster the fight will start to seem slower in effect slowing down time. Strike while the iron is hot and an opportunity to win will never be missed.

In a perfect world a Mixed Martial Arts fight match would start and end very clean. The bell would ring and both fighters would touch gloves. Then the fighters would meet in the middle of the ring to fight. Then one fighter would throw the first punch and that punch would be the one to end the fight. The reality is this very rarely happens. The vast majority of the time there will be an exchange and even the winner will take some punishment before leaving the ring. If you can consistently finish your opponent and come out untouched you should probably be the champ. Because the chances of taking a few licks is so high it is better to train to be the fighter who lands the last hit then to just train not to be hit. It’s often more effective to be a consistent counter striker then to pray for the lucky one hit knock out. Take note of how many fights end in one-hit TKO and how many fights last till the last round…a very small percentage.
In Maryland MMA schools are really starting to push the notion of counter attacking. My instructor at the Laurel MMA gym where I train likes to say, “We all remember saying when we were children that if you hit me, I’m going to hit you back, well this is a motto that we can still live by.” The best counter strikers always land the last hit in every exchange. By always throwing the last attack that messes with your opponent’s head because they may begin to think that nothing is working if their opponent can still hit them in the end. Counter Attacking can win matches just as easily as one-hit knockouts.

Taking a Self Defense course should be a top priority for all women. All around Maryland and especially in Bowie Self Defense courses are very common so I would recommend look for classes that specializes in rape defense. The best way for women to prevent rape is to admit that rape happens and then these women need to take the necessary precaution to learn ways to protect themselves against being victims. It may seem like rape doesn’t happen very often, but that is because most of the victims of rape don’t report the incident to police right away. They often feel ashamed to tell their family and friends about their ordeal because it is a truly traumatic experience. Taking a women’s self defense course will help women decrease the chances of this happening to them.
If you truly want to be able to defend yourself you should find a martial art system that is proven to work for self defense. Martial arts like Wing-Chun are not ideal for rape defense. Wing-Chun isn’t a bad style for self defense, but for rape defense it wouldn’t have much effect against the attacker. Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are more proven martial art styles for women’s self defense. Many Bowie MMA schools teach both of these styles and have a class that focuses on rape defense. If choosing a Mixed Martial Arts school, be sure that they teach the styles separately. Less creditable schools often teach one mixed class to mask their lack of knowledge.
Muay Thai is the best style to use for stand-up. The reason why Muay Thai is so effective is because they use a wide variety of attacks. The whole body is a weapon delivering attacks by using punches, knees, elbows, and kicks. With Proper technique a women can become a powerful striker but many times they can still be muscled to the ground. This is where Brazilian Jiu Jitsu comes in. It is the absolute best system for fighting on the ground, for both defending and attacking. Women will not only be able to defend themselves, but know how to attack back as well. Jiu Jitsu will allow a smaller less strong person defend their self using body positioning and leverage. Between these two styles women will learn to protect themselves in most situations. Of course if a woman has an opportunity to run away then she should. However it is always best to be prepared in the event that you cannot get away.
